It's been a minute since I've blogged. Over the last year I have started booking more newborn sessions, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorites!
It's always such a honor to be able to get to be one of the first people to hold and wrap a precious new "Bundle of Joy".

When I get a inquiry for a newborn session I always tell them I take newborn photos in the first 12 days. The reason for this is the babies tend to sleep deeper and sounder in that time frame. If you decide you want to book a newborn session I will put your due date down and when you have your baby you will contact me and I will be able to get you in within 12 days for your session :)I always send directions for the new mom to follow the day of their session to help prepare baby for session. I always keep baby wrapped for their session. For me, they just prefer to be wrapped and warm. Plus, I don't have to keep my studio 85+ degrees and sweat. More power to the other photographers that can take unwrapped photos :)

A have starting being a prop collector! I love to go to flea markets searching for unique baskets, buckets, wooden crates or whatever I think would be unique for a session. Another fun things about newborn sessions are picking out the the wraps,(and headbands for little girls)! Everyone has different taste, some prefer neutrals and some prefer colors! I always recommend to choose something that will compliment where you will be hanging your portraits. Some hang in babies nursey and some in the living room! I have lots of wraps and headbands to choose from. On the day of your session I let you pick out two props, and two to three wraps and headbands.
When we begin your newborn session I always start with baby first. I want to be able to get those photos for sure! I have white noise machines and sushers to help the baby get nice and sleepy. Babies tend to run the show so I follow babies lead.
The next photos I take are sibling photos (if their are any siblings). I always take these on the flokati so sibling/s can easily lay beside baby and don't have to worry about dropping or holding baby.
Last up are Mommy & Me, Then Daddy & Me, Then Family Photos.

I hope this has helped you get a better idea of how a Newborn session would go:) Newborns grow fast! The next age I recommend is either 3 or 4 months old, babies are more alert then! Then 6, 9, & 12!
Don't Blink......Time Flies ;)
